Campillai received broad support from the commission’s members, including Senators Fidel Espinoza (PS), Ricardo Celis (PPD), Matías Walker (Dem), and Enrique van Rysselberghe (UDI), fulfilling the administrative agreement of the upper house’s parliamentary committees. «I want to inform you that we just concluded a session of the Human Rights, Nationality, and Citizenship Commission, where I was unanimously re-elected as chair,» Senator Campillai said after the session.
In line with her new role, Campillai announced that the commission will immediately exercise its oversight function. She shared plans to summon the Minister of Justice and the Undersecretary of Human Rights to an extraordinary session to report on the legislative agenda and the government’s priorities regarding these issues. «We have agreed to invite the minister and the undersecretary tomorrow to present the government’s Human Rights agenda,» added the parliamentarian, who has experience leading this same body during the 2024-2025 term.
