Original article: “El guion es obvio”: Global Sumud acusa a Israel de mentir para justificar fuerza letal contra la flotilla The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) condemned that Israel has activated its ‘propaganda machinery’ to create false justifications allowing it to use lethal force against the humanitarian mission sailing towards Gaza. In a statement, the flotilla accused Tel Aviv of resorting to a ‘manual of depraved tactics’ that it has allegedly used in the past to commit crimes against the Palestinian people. ‘The script is obvious’, declared the group, which anticipates a possible armed attack on the unarmed civilians comprising the expedition, whose sole goal is to break the illegal blockade imposed on the Strip and deliver humanitarian aid.
According to the text released by the GSF, the media controlled by Israel, such as the N12 channel, have begun to spread false narratives labeling the mission as ‘violent’ and linking it to governments and political parties. In this context, it warned that this is the same script used to justify the massacre of ten humanitarian activists aboard the Mavi Marmara in 2010. ‘We denounce this before they take action: no government or leader can claim ignorance.
The script is clear. This is how they are operating:’, they indicated in the statement. Global Sumud Flotilla: Israel Spreads Lies to Justify Violence The text outlines three central lies that, according to the flotilla, shape the Israeli script.
The first is the so-called ‘lie of violence’, referring to the fact that authorities of the Zionist regime are spreading claims that GSF volunteers are ‘more violent than their predecessors’, a fabrication aimed at giving ‘the green light’ for their commands to fire upon unarmed civilians in international waters, later claiming self-defense. The second tactic is the ‘terrorist scapegoat‘, with the flotilla warning that whenever a crime occurs, the Israeli regime shouts ‘Hamas’ to excuse its violence, stripping doctors, journalists, and activists of their humanitarian status, ‘trying to redefine a flotilla led by civilians as a military target. ’ The third is the ‘victim-blaming‘ narrative, presenting the elite unit Shayetet 13 —responsible for the massacre at Al-Shifa Hospital, deemed the largest medical complex in the Gaza Strip— as purported victims against slow boats filled with human rights defenders.
‘This is a calculated trap set by the Israeli regime, facilitated by complicit and participating countries. It is absurd to claim ‘self-defense’ while committing state piracy and crimes against humanity in international waters,’ stated the GSF in the text. ‘You cannot ‘defend yourself’ by violently hijacking a legal humanitarian mission.
The only ‘threat’ here is that we might actually succeed in breaking the blockade and opening a humanitarian corridor,’ the group stated, referring to the recent aggression perpetrated by Tel Aviv against 23 boats from the flotilla less than 80 nautical miles west of the Greek island of Crete, where 181 civilians were seized and transferred to the Israeli vessel Nahshon, where they reported experiencing psychological torture, physical violence, and prolonged isolation. The flotilla also issued direct warnings to Israeli commandos and complicit states. ‘We are documenting everything in real-time.
If you board these boats, seize or harm our participants, your faces and actions will be evidence in international courts,’ stated the humanitarian mission, recalling that arrest warrants have already been issued against 37 Israeli officials in Spain, Italy, and Turkey. ‘The World is Watching and Israel’s Manual is Exposed’ The GSF emphasized that the blockade is not a security measure, but ‘a tool of genocide, occupation, and ethnic cleansing,’ warning that any country assisting in halting aid will be complicit in these crimes. It reaffirmed that the mission’s participants —unarmed, non-violent activists, doctors, journalists, and volunteers— aim to open a humanitarian corridor, reach the shores of Gaza, and work alongside the Palestinian people in their pursuit of freedom.
‘The world is watching. The manual is exposed. We call on the world to take action,’ concluded Global Sumud’s statement, as they maintain their course in international waters towards Gaza.
